‘Secrets’, the sharing of information amongst a group of people while hiding it from all others.

The fundamental concept of gathering people within intimate environments in the hope of providing a safe and entertaining atmosphere seemed far from possible several years ago. The Scottish Asian scene had all but reached a low with continuous violence and hostile crowds. The reputation attained affected all involved and halted any further progression. Event formula had been recurrently repeated with billings and the eventual decline in female attendees cemented the collapse.

Formed as a direct reaction, Gtown Desi took all elements that were founded wrong and put together a new blueprint in tackling all problems. ‘Secrets’ embodied all things good in restoring purity back into Glasgow’s Asian nightlife. The model was simple in principal yet effective in catering for all individual needs. With the hope of collecting persons in small friendly surroundings, the focus was now on quality as opposed to quantity.

Slowly but surely, the party established a reputation and began attracting attention for all the right reasons. A secure and stable surrounding initiated in true fashion with the debut; The Valentines Party 2008, set the tone as the ‘Secret’ was shared with an ideal collective of people. The following months threw up several other exclusive parties in the line including ‘The London Secret’, ‘The Masquerade Ball’ and the much talked about ‘White Party’ which still stands as the clear highlight.

As GTD celebrated their first year anniversary upon the 2009 Valentine Dinner & Dance, the cultural importance of ‘Secrets’ hit home based on our existing circle of attendees that have became friends and acquaintances due to their support and full backing.

The concept has almost re-shaped and developed what was once known as a predominantly male audience. The figures evidently suggest the turn around with soaring number of females in comparison to the male ratio. Partiers have never felt safer and more comfortable than whilst in the company of Gtown Desi at their own creation, ‘Secrets’.

The future and desire for such gatherings is continually called upon by the public. Without a ‘Secret’ to share, the ability to converse and communicate with like minded individuals would truly be prevented.  The potential to literally conduct the gathering anywhere within the world remains a realistic prospect. Nevertheless, one thing will always remain certain; our Secret will always be shared with those that value our efforts towards fulfilling our vision.

Following on from the ’12 Secrets of New Year’, the team, Gtown Desi are increasing the stakes all over again with some of the biggest parties set for the next 12 months.  All will be revealed in good time but as we’ve warned before; expect the unexpected.
